TOMAS STORY

About Us

Hi, I’m Tomas Och, a self-taught artist with studio space in west Denver, CO. I am a lifelong artist focusing on understanding how the human mind interprets what it sees with the eyes. The experience of seeing, after all, is really just a thought.

These bonsai and firepits represent a portion of my metalwork within a larger artistic portfolio. I enjoy fashioning metal sculptures to have several potential Interpretations, appropriate Mathematical proportions, and Style consistent with our shared, unconscious rules of Beauty.

One goal is to make these sculptures interesting to see every day.

Personally, what captivates me in these metal décor pieces is that the wooden looking branches and trunk will slowly corrode to an even deep rust color. The copper leaves will continue to patina to a smooth mint color across the next thirty years. Just as we age, so too these trees will age.

He provides individualized, original solutions and meticulous attention to detail to make unique projects a reality. His custom metal art can speak to many different concepts, motifs and themes. I will work with you to design, budget, and install all of these pieces.

Tomas Och is a lifelong artist and has been internationally awarded for portions of his portfolio. He has an exceptional talent for finishing custom projects with structural and aesthetic requirements, that typically require no maintenance. Thanks to his intuitive understanding of mechanics and metal; his natural passion for art and the experience of art; and many years of experience, Tomas will work with you to develop a shared vision for a piece that is perfectly suitable for a yard, a landscape, or garden.

Tomas Och can work with your budget to complete the entire installation of each piece personally, from start to finish, working within any local and physical constraints. In most cases, the sculptures need no maintenance, but annual or on-call service agreements are also available if Mother Nature does any damage. Most pieces take between three and six months to complete, once initiated, depending on work load. There may be a backlog of commissioned pieces, so reach out early if you are considering a piece. Travel expenses may apply.

Each sculpture is housed in a tray. The tray media can be any landscape material (stones, broken glass, mulch, seashells, or glass beads) to match the surroundings. The trays for each bonsai can be mounted at various heights or on different materials: a simple metal stand, on top of a stump, clinging to a rock, window sill, or wall-mounted. The mounting design is included in the design process.

Presenting Metal Bonsai

These exquisite metal sculptures, created by a Denver-based Bonsai artist Tomas Och, are delicate, colorful, and made with steel and copper.

They require no maintenance when kept outdoors, allowing the metal to rust naturally, crafting a viewing experience spread over the years and decades to come.

Tomas Och, an accomplished artist with hundreds of original artwork and commissioned pieces to his credit, is creating local and regional buzz. His work is on display at several locations and a few states.

Health and well-being are restored when one focuses on balance. These sculptures offer a chance to pause and think about finding balance or rebalancing when installed in a healing garden or backyard.

Tom has drawn inspiration for these metal bonsai from nature. He designs them it to simulate real-life bonsai. People who have sat with these metal bonsai, say it promotes tranquility and restoration.
